How to take screenshot on mac

There are several ways to take a screenshot on a Mac:

  1. To capture the entire screen:
    • Press Command + Shift + 3.
    • The screenshot will be saved as a file on the desktop. The file name will start with “Screenshot” followed by the date and time that the screenshot was taken.
  2. To capture a portion of the screen:
    • Press Command + Shift + 4.
    • The cursor will change to a crosshair pointer.
    • Drag the crosshair pointer to select the area that you want to capture.
    • To move the selection, press and hold Space bar while dragging.
    • To cancel the selection, press the Escape (esc) key.
    • To take the screenshot, release the mouse or trackpad button.
  3. To capture a window:
    • Press Command + Shift + 4.
    • The cursor will change to a crosshair pointer.
    • Press the Space bar. The cursor will change to a camera icon.
    • Move the camera icon over the window that you want to capture. The window will be highlighted.
    • To cancel the selection, press the Escape (esc) key.
